Romans 12:6

St. Marina

This the blessed St. Marina the martyr of Antioch who overcame the Devil. She was born to a noble family of pagans. When her mother died, her father entrusted her to a Christian nanny who taught her the Faith. Her father also died when she was fifteen.

One day she overheard her nanny talking about the lives of the saints and the glories they receive in Heaven. She longed to join their ranks.

The governor Lopharius Ebrotus passed by her once and fell in love with her. When she refused to marry him and to worship his idols, he became furious and put her through many tortures. Though she was imprisoned and expected to die, the angel of the Lord healed her wounds. As she prayed with her hands extended in the form of a cross, a huge serpent came and swallowed her. She made the sign of the cross while in the belly of the serpent, and it split open and fell dead on the ground.

In her life she performed many other miracles through the sign of the cross, and finally received the crown of martyrdom through beheading. Her body is located in the church of the Virgin Mary in Haret El-Roum.

Sunday School

"A church without youth is a church without a future, and youth without the church are youth without a future." -His Holiness Pope Shenouda III

Archangel Michael & St. Anthony Coptic Church prides itself on loving its children. With that in mind, devoted Sunday School teachers are ready, willing, and driven to give your kids the opportunity to grow closer to God!

Sunday School takes place immediately after Communion from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Students should come prepared for class with pencils. paper, and notebooks (if applicable).

Your children will learn Bible verses, Spiritual songs and Tasbeha, as well as important Bible stories and life lessons. Help your child get the most out of Sunday School by reviewing the day's lesson with them after church.

Don't forget to also bring your children to Kids Day! There they'll connect with the church servants and build a stronger bond with the church community.
