AMSA Oh Babies! (167 images)
On February 17, 2008 at AMSA Coptic Church, something amazing and wonderful happened! A baby was baptized, chrismated, and took his first communion, and four babies celebrated their Sebou3 and were drenched in the waters of Salat it-Tisht. What is a Sebou3? It's an Egyptian cultural tradition of welcoming a newborn baby into the world. It takes place about a week after the baby is born (hence, Sebou3 meaning "seventh"). Salat it-Tisht are prayers said over the baby to bless its new life. It's like a pre-baptism, but it's certainly not required. However, as Copts, we will take any occasion to pray over and celebrate gifts from God.

Enjoy these pictures of Kirollos (Mariam's son who was baptized), Kirollos (Sally's son who was baptized a week ago!), Valerie (Martha's), Maria (Nivene's), Veronica (Aza's -- George's sister!), and of course the very fiesty Mirola (Mariam's)! Many more babies are on the way, so keep the church family in your prayers!
